Passenger Vehicle Exports registered a YoY drop of -43.1% in Apr'20-Jan’21 period. Hyundai retained its spot as India’s largest PV exporter.
OEMwise Exports Statistics for Apr'20-Jan'21 –
- Hyundai was India's No.1 PV Exporter and has a Market Share of over 25% in terms of exports. It exported over 82k passenger cars between Apr'20 to Jan'21.
- Maruti has gained tremendous volumes in Exports and has easily surpassed Ford in FY2021. Maruti has gained one of the highest Market Share increase in exports this year and has placed itself in the second spot.
- Ford registered one of the highest YoY fall in exports and now ranks third in the list. The pandemic has hit the export volumes too for the American automaker.
- Kia has easily overtaken the likes of VW & Nissan in terms of exports in FY2021. Now the Korean Sisters (Hyundai + Kia) command an Export Market share of near 35%.

Ford’s Ecosport was India’s Top Exported Passenger Vehicle and over 37k units were shipped in the first 10 months of FY21.
General Motors Beat stood second in the list and was just 372 units ahead of Hyundai's Verna.
Kia has been able to significantly ramp up production for exports too. Seltos is now India’s Fourth-Largest Exported Passenger Vehicle and also the No.1 exported Mid SUV! Seltos is currently being exported to over 40 countries in South Africa, South America & South Asian markets from the Indian subcontinent.
India will serve as a core manufacturing hub for Kia and even Sonet will be exported to over 70 countries. Do note that Sonet is currently being produced only in India and will be shipped to markets like Middle-East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Around 4,875 units of the Sonet were exported in the last 5 months.
2 Executive Sedans fare in the Top 5 list! While these models do not have such acceptance in the Indian market; export volumes are surely encouraging. VW Vento is the highest exported Executive Sedan after Hyundai’s Verna!
S-Presso is Maruti’s Top exported vehicle! S-Presso which has been conceptualized and designed in India is exported to parts of Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
