In this July 2024 Mahindra car sales analysis, we’ll look at the car sales of Mahindra for the previous month. We’ll also compare the YoY and MoM change to find out which Mahindra cars’ sales improved and which ones declined. Lastly, the table with monthly sales for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend of all Mahindra cars.
July 2024 — Mahindra Car Sales Figures - YoY Change
In terms of YoY change, the Thar’s drop is notable as Mahindra prepare to expand the Thar brand to cover 2 products under the umbrella. With the launch of the Roxx, Mahindra have finally entered the hot-and-happening C-SUV space and they have a bunch of 2WD variants to keep the prices reasonable. The feature list is loaded and the performance is beyond what you expect from a typical C-segment SUV.
They have 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L turbo diesel engine option in a segment littered with 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L non-turbo petrol engine options. There are also a few 1.5L turbo diesel engine options and none can compete with the mighty 5-door Thar’s torque. Although, fuel efficiency may be an area where the Thar Roxx buyers will have to compromise as the other cars with their lighter platforms and smaller engines are naturally more fuel efficient.

While the Jimny managed to achieve enough demand to justify dispatching almost 2,500 units in July, the joy may be short-lived as the Thar Roxx is here. With an attractive starting price of just Rs. 12.99 lakh for a far superior 2.0L turbo petrol engine, full-loaded feature set and leagues-better road presence, it’s clear that it’s game over for the Jimny. To put things in context, the Jimny launched last year at Rs. 12.74 lakh starting price and it offered a boring 1.5L non-turbo petrol engine. The tiny size didn’t help it in establishing a rapport either even though it is plenty capable. Moreover, the vintage 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission also dissuaded people who would be okay with paying top dollar for a car as cute as the Jimny.
Maruti should seriously consider focusing on bringing the 3-door version with rear wheel drive and a smaller 1.0L turbo petrol engine. Together, these things will help them save manufacturing costs and taxes, which will allow them to carve out a niche for affordable off-roaders. If Mahindra can bring back the XUV300 with thorough rebranding and repositioning as the XUV 3XO, then Maruti can also do it for the Jimny.
Speaking of the XUV 3XO, it continues to hit 5-figure monthly production, although barely.

Contrary to our assumption, the Marazzo is not dead. Mahindra just removed the Marazzo for a few days and listed it again with a higher price tag. So, Mahindra continue to operate in the MPV segment. The consistent demand for the Carens shows that there’s a market for the MPV. It’s just that the Marazzo didn’t manage to crack it. Unlike some of their other products like the Thar, 3XO, 700, Scorpio N and Bolero, which have managed to achieve the perfect price, positioning and feature distribution in their respective segments, the MPV segment remains a mystery.
We hope that Mahindra revive this segment and challenge the Ertiga/XL6/Rumion on one end and the Hycross/Crysta/Invicto on the other.
