Around 3,20,609 passenger cars were sold in the Indian market for June 2022. The sales increased over 25% when compared to June last year. Industry recorded its second highest monthly volume in June'22 for 2022! It also crossed 3 Lakh dispatch figure for the third month in this calendar year.
The dispatches of all OEMs were on a positive side apart from the market leader Maruti Suzuki. The increased dispatches is a sign of easing semiconductor supply and OEMs ability to manufacture more cars. It is also essential that the automakers gear up and ensure production is readied for the upcoming festive season.
Skoda & Kia India reported their all time high monthly volumes and were backed by solid dispatch figures of their new launches (Slavia & Carens).
New Launches have become an imperative part of OEMs strategy to gain volumes and car makers are lining up important lunches right before the festive season. Jeep Meridian & Citroen C3 dispatches have started in June'22. Maruti has already launched the New Brezza and Toyota has showcased its upcoming Hyryder. Going by the momentum, the PV industry is all set to have a bumper festive season and hope the production is aligned accordingly.
Maruti Suzuki was the only OEM to report a YoY decline and its Market Share fell by a massive 10%. The country's largest car maker is losing Market Share consistently and is now pulling up its sleeves with the launch of New Brezza in Arena channel and New Mid-SUV (Nexa channel) to regain its share.
Hyundai was able to jump back to its No.2 position and was almost 4k units ahead of Tata Motors. Hyundai had recently upgraded its Venue and shall be attempting to strengthen its hold in the Sub4m Compact SUV space. The OEM has expressed interest to slowly phase out hatchbacks and move its portfolio more towards lucrative SUV/MPV segments.
Tata Motors continues its dream run and reported the highest Market Share increase in June'22. Its volumes jumped a phenomenal 87% YoY and is consistently reporting dispatches of >40k every month!
Mahindra & Kia are fighting hard for the No.4 spot. While Mahindra has been a clear winner in 2022; Kia is leaving no stone unturned to overtake the Indian MNC. Mahindra has now showcased its New ScorpioN and expects to maintain its lead!
Carens has catapulted Kia's volumes to >24k and the OEM is now running 3 shifts to meet consumer demand. Kia commanded 7.5% Market Share in June'22 and commands its place in the Top 5 OEMs.
