March is usually a good month for automobile sales as purchases happen for depreciation purposes by corporates. Also, preponement is evident to avoid the price hikes that is generally scheduled in April. This year's March also had the festivities of Gudi Padwa in the Western part of the country and Ugadi in South India. The sales uptick was visible in Vahan registrations, where the Industry was up by 4.6% vs Mar'24 and 14.1% vs Feb'25.

The OEM rankings also varied heavily in March, and Hyundai regained the second spot from Mahindra! The fight for No.2 remains interesting, and Mahindra, Hyundai & Tata are on each other's toes every month for the same. While Hyundai ranked second in terms of Wholesales, it was fourth in terms of Vahan registrations. It was Tata Motors that ranked second in terms of Vahan. Currently, apart from Telangana, all other states are enrolled in Vahan, and the data is publicly accessible. Vahan divulges the vehicle registration data and gives a perspective of actual end customer purchases.

Notably, Škoda crossed the 7k dispatch figure after 25 years of operations in the Indian market! With a target of 75k–1 Lakh units annually, the Kylaq is poised to triple Škoda’s India volumes, potentially restoring India as its second-largest market after Germany.
