The Jeep's Suzuki Jimny-sized e-SUV rendition!!

The Suzuki Jimny, the compact and capable off roader is much loved by enthusiasts around the world. It has registered respectable figures since the launch of its fourth-gen rendition.

Other Automakers too are trying to venture into this off-roader segment.

It is now gathered, from media sources, that the American carmaker is now developing an entry-level SUV that is smaller than its current entry-level offering – Renegade and slightly larger than the Suzuki Jimny

How will the new entry-level Jimny look like?

Here are some answers:

  • It is expected to be full – electric with a range of around 330 km.

  • It is the artwork of Avarvarii.

  • Has a boxy design theme.

  • A radiator front grille inspired by the Renegade.

  • The bumper has a chunky look.

  • It has a 5-door layout, unlike its 3-door rivals.

Appealing fender-mounted turn indicators and square-ish wheel arches.

The roof panels are inspired by the Wrangler, which can be removed when required.

The windows have a boxy theme along with black door handles and exposed door hinges that adds ruggedness to the overall design. The cladding that runs through the length gives it a look of a tough SUV DNA.

The new entry-level Jeep SUV will be longer, wider, and taller than the Suzuki Jimny by a few inches.

The new Jeep is made on the PSA platform, which is used on Fiat 500X and DS3 Cross back. It comes with an electric power train too. There are rumour that the entry-level Jeep could be offered as EV only, quipped with a 136 hp electric motor motors with a peak torque of 260Nm and a WLTP-certified range of 332 km. The power train is likely to be borrowed from the DS53 Crossback. There could be a set of petrol n diesel engines powertrain choices too.

Dimensionally, it will be the smallest car in the Jeep line-up; and will be less than 4m long.

The new Jeep SUV is expected to reach showrooms by late 2022.
